Slipcovers
101
Each participant
will cover a pillow, a cushion, an ottoman, and a dining or
armless chair
Skills
include:

marking
and cutting for finished cover

Making
kick pleat skirts, lined

-
All
supplies furnished by Pat, participant will need 10
yards of medium weight fabric, 48 to 54 inches wide,
preferably cotton, can be printed, striped, or solid
(no checks or plaids)
No satin, velvet, or upholstery fabric, please.

Slipcovers
201
Each
participant will cover a club chair and/or a wing chair

Marking
and cutting for cushions for each chair
-
Cutting
and Assembly of at least two arm styles (English,
roll arm, telephone arm)

Cutting
and Assembly of chair bodies
-
Cutting,
assembly, and Application of Skirts, kick pleat,
box pleat or gathered
-
Insertion
of zippers as needed for closing body of cover
All
supplies furnished by Pat, participant will need 10
yards of medium weight cotton fabric, no satin, velvet,
or upholstery fabric, please. Participant can bring
own chair if desired.

Each
participant will cover a sofa either brought in by student
or using a model from Pat’s collection. At least
15 yards of fabric will be needed, 18 to 20 if the sofa
is large, with back cushions as well as seat cushions.

401
Each
participant will cover an open arm chair, could be old
platform rocker, master dining chair, Victorian or French
side chair, library chair. Four to five yards will be required,
depending on skirt length.
Skills
include:
Cutting
for this type of chair, numerous openings, closings (Velcro,
buttons, ties, or a combination of these, skirts, cushions
with skirts attached for dining chairs, any other complex
design not covered in earlier courses.
